Ego & Self
In Carl Jung Psychology, ego represents who I strive to be external wise, compromising the social standards. Self, represents the unique soul that remains in individuals that always echos the true desire that is usually hidden and buried. Jung says how the balance between the two is crucial, but in this fast paced modern period with social media, people are destroying their self to have their ego become more flourish. This is why we never find the unique beauty or the way we are meant to live on this earth, just following the mere trend and what people praise. Self portrait sessions especially with the ones with my face so in front was an encounter to my self, not the ego. I tend to have a strong, big eyes that have so much passion and energy, it’s kind of scary to see it face to face. I wanted to hold my antique medium format to represent my first desire of self that I ever had in my life, which was photography. It was something that noone taught me or forced me, but a choice that I made on my own.

Which in terms of what we wear, I believe we go back and forth between ego and self trying to express the balance. To me I have been long time obsessed with Jane Austen Era English dresses like prairie dresses or gunne sax dress. But these days for some reason that I do not know I love looking at modern Hanbok and I want to expand a new collection of that. I believe this is another step for me to go closer to my self, who I really am inside in the soul, which I am wearing my top that I designed myself. Season comes and goes, but there are garment style that never go away from my closet. I believe so many possibilities can open when we take a little attention to what we chose to wear. It reveals our self, ego, moreover, the pure me.
